Walk on the Wild Side

This project was to design an illustration to a company the lyrics of the Lou Reed song Walk on the Wild Side for a book of lyrics. The song is about a group of people who hung out at Andy Warhol's Factory, three of them were trannies and one was a rent boy.
I played about with merging and layering their faces, as they were about changing their identities . But then started thinking about taking images and changing them to add a bit of humour. This first one was influenced by a drawing by Andy Warhol, the smoke is a calligram of the song lyrics. This one was about combining high culture (the three graces) with low culture (toilet knobs).
